The Secret Life of Bees is a very touching story of a white girl coming to terms with who she is during the Civil Rights Movement, all the while living with black people, who show her what real love and family is.

Dakota Fanning is turning out to be quite a great actress and she carried off this weighty role with quite a bit of dignity and respect. She was perfect as Lily who just wants to know who her mother was. Jennifer Hudson once again proves why she won that Oscar, you don’t see her when she acts you only see the character she is trying to portray. Queen Latifah is, of course, a gem to watch. She brings such depth and emotion to her character of August, you can see her pain and love and it is very believable. And Alicia Keys proves that she is more than just a singer with this role.

This is a very emotional movie that is done beautifully. It’s like a little slice of life in the 60s in the south. It’s very believable and touching and I really enjoyed it. I also like the foreshadowing with the bees. The cast does such an amazing job, I was really impressed with all of them. And it’s a really great story about acceptance and love. The scenes are great and the use of color is amazing.

I think everyone should check out this movie, it’s beautiful and sad and I already want to see it again.

This was a great movie about dealing with your personal demons and struggle of finding love. Not a lover, but love that we would find from family and friends. The performances by the hole cast were amazing. Alicia Keys continues to prove her acting abilities. Queen Latifah shines again. Jennifer Hudson reminds us why she won the oscar. Dakota Fanning, a teen with a long career ahead. However, the screen was stolen by, Sophie Okenedo, throughout the movie. Sophie still surprises us with every role she undertakes. She must be on the Oscar list.

I believe the movie was geared toward a white audience. There were some good and interesting performances. I felt unhappy that the young girl did indeed bring a lot of havoc and saddness into the lives to people who had done nothing but good to her and her family. I wondered about the meaning of this phenomenon.
