Can we all agree that PG-13 horror is over? Because there isn't any horror here at all, really. In fact, there's not much of anything in this story about a high-schooler named Molly (Haley Bennett) trying to fit in after her mother goes crazy and tries to kill her. When Molly starts to hear voices, see things, and get bloody noises in class, she worries that she's going crazy just the way momma used to. But perhaps not everything is as it seems? You betcha! Unfortunately, the entire cast is wasted in a movie that has barely any story and even less character development. The "twists" are so obvious it's actually painful. If you quickly start to get the feeling this all been done better many times before, that's because it has. Not just in Rosemary's Baby, but also The Initiation of Sarah and To The Devil a Daughter. Anything with "Haunting" in the title should be a lot scarier than this.
This was one of the most boring horror movies that I have seen in awhile. There is a completely pointless opening scene that really has no connection to the movie, a main character who seems rather boring and a pretty predictable story line.
I don%u2019t know who came up with the title because there really isn%u2019t much haunting of Molly going on. Ok so she hears a few voices and her nose bleeds but that%u2019s about it.
I think the ending is supposed to be surprising and maybe it is referencing Rosemary%u2019s baby (although it%u2019s not even in the same league) but the twist isn%u2019t a twist I think everyone in the theatre (there were two of us) saw it coming from the opening scene.
Save your money, if you want to go see a paranoid, satan-cult movie then rent Rosemary%u2019s Baby, it%u2019s a classic.
