I regularly go to movie theaters throughout the Northeast. UA Sheepshead Bay has the WORST customer service I\'ve ever experienced. Not only do the staff regularly ignore me and my date but I hear them make racist remakes quite frequently. Obviously there is no one in charge, nor do they care.
Terrible.... I wrote this letter to the main office. To whom it may concern, I apologize in advance for the length of this letter and for some of the vile words that are used. I have never been so insulted, humiliated and disgusted all at the same time in my life. You have the most deplorable staff working in your theater located in Brooklyn NY. The day the tickets for the movie Batman-Dark Knight came on line and on sale my fiancé and I purchased them right away. Upon our arrival to the theater at 7:45p.m 7/18/08 we were told by four of your staff members the line for the 10:20p.m showing is outside the movie house on the staircase. While standing on line two security guards told us that we were on the correct line for the time our tickets were for. At 9:55p.m the guards called out to the crowd that the line we were on was for the 10:45p.m showing. Angry that I stood outside for over two hours in 90 degree weather for nothing, we got off the line walked inside and asked for a refund since the theater that was for our time slot had a line twice the size of the previous line, where I was the fourth person in line. We were directed to the box office for our refund, and told to “just walk up to the guy in the red shirt and let him know.” When I got to the ticket office your staff member I think his name tag said Jarrel (who was one of the staff who directed me outside to the wrong line in the first place) was less than helpful. I said excuse me but we would like a refund or exchange for these tickets. He said one minute. He walked away and started taking other customers. After the first 3 customers I was getting rather impatient and said excuse me, but could you please just give us the refund? He grabbed the small microphone and said “You need to hush your mouth up.” Then he continued to ignore my request. It literally took me a few seconds to register what he had just said to me. When I told him he should be talking like that to a customer he took the microphone again and said “Now you need to shut the f*** up” The entire line of people now looking at me I felt mortified. He then said walk your as* to this guy he’s the manager. The manager he was pointing me to watched and heard everything that was being said the whole time. I did not see his name tag. I can tell you he was of Asian descent. I gave the manager our tickets and said I want to make a complaint about this guy, how dare he speak like this to me or any customer like that. The manager handed me the refund and said nothing about what was going on. All the while Jarrel was yelling behind him for everyone to hear.
Saying things like “This fu***** white b*** thinks who f**** she is – f*** you-f*** you.” And the manager sitting there who took my refund had nothing to say to Jarrel or me.
Nothing at all. I decided Jarrel was not worth listening to any further and I walked away to find another manager, Ahmod. I half explained the situation to him and he apologized for the other two’s behavior, and he put me on the line for the 10:20 show. That did not make up for the vicious things that were being screamed at me by Jarrel, or the fact that nothing was being done about his repulsive attitude or his racial slander against me. I also learned through your more civil staff members that Jarrel is next in line for a manager’s position. I must say if a person with this type of vulgarity, and indecency is up for a manager’s position with this company or any other, that really says something about the business itself. Person ally as a manager of a large customer service team I would never allow one of my staff to act out like Jarrel did. A person of his nature would be off of my payroll faster than he could blink. I’m not going to tell you how to run this company, I have never had the experience to even begin to tell you how it should be done. But I will tell you this, in my familiarity with situations like this, when you have people running your place of business, people like Jarrel are the ones who bring it spiraling down which hurts the company as a whole. Going to see a movie has never been more miserable then it was tonight, I don’t care how convenient this theater is, but I will never return to it. I’ll go to the Pavilion instead. At least the staff there is polite. If you have any questions and would like to contact me, please don’t hesitate.
