***** I just loved An American Carol. I laughed until I cried. Very funny and very patriotic and very inspirational.\ \n\\nLoaded with top stars. Some top black stars, including Gary Coleman, in a hysterically funny scene from 1860. At least 8 stars that left me trying to remember their names.\\n\\nThe JFK impersonator really had the voice down, but the looks could have been more authentic.\\n\\ nShould you take kids? Unless they have made top grades in a very rigorous high school American history Advanced Placement class, kids probably wouldn%u2019t get many of the jokes. Can they finish the line \\\"Ask not what your country...\\\"? Would they recognize an exceptionally good impersonator of George Washington. Do they know who Neville Chamberlain was? Do they know who General Patton was? If they see various soldiers in uniform, can they recognize which war by the uniform?\\n\\nI t%u2019s not so much inappropriate for older kids as it just humor that kids would not get.\\n\\nThere were several very obviously fake suicide bomber explosions, but anyone over 10 can see how ridiculously fake they were.\\n\\nIt was loaded with slapstick humor. More than I%u2019d want kids to see, but then I never could stand the 3 Stooges. I%u2019d describe it as in the style of Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton, and if you can remember who those characters were, you%u2019ll remember a lot of the scenes not as history from a textbook, but as current events.\\n\\nNo references to drugs or pot (at least none that I caught). Absolutely nothing sexual. One non-revealing nude scene that had nothing to do with sex. Swearing? Well the funniest scene for me was the [expletive deleted] from an Islamic terrorist. You just had to be there.\\n\\nIf you%u2019re asking how could an Islamic terrorist be funny, well you just have to see for it yourself.\\n\\n If you were ever in a peace demonstration in the 60%u2019s...or if you wonder just what your parents did then...\\n\\nIf you%u2019re the type to dress up in character, go dig out your tie-dyes and foot long fringed shawl to wear with your peace beads! Or you could wear the uniform of a WWII soldier, or any USA soldier from 1776 till 1976.\\n\\nWoul d be a great theme for a Halloween costume party.\\n\\nI definitely want to see it again, but haven%u2019t decided if I%u2019ll go back or just wait till I can buy a copy to keep.\\n
